The Personal Line Generator-PLUS is a PC computer program designed to quickly convert the values of those handicapping factors you think are important into a personal odds line. Like our original odds generator, the program accepts up to 12 horses and up to 6 different handicapping factors, and offers important new features described below. (The factors shown below are for example only, you pick whatever factors you want to use). You simply enter the horses and the values of each of the factors for each horse. The program totals up the "points" you've given each horse and generates an odds line by giving each horse a probability of winning based on the total points it has acquired.

And as before, you can adjust the "weight" of each factor. For example, suppose you think that Speed Points are just as important as Speed Ratings. Speed Points have a maximum value of only 8, while Speed Ratings can exceed 100. To adjust this, you simple tell the program to weight the speed rating 10 or 12 times as much!. And, of course, for some factors, such as the number of days since the last race, lower numbers are better. To make this adjustment, you simply check a box at the bottom of the factor's column as shown below for "DaWay" (days away).

However, there are many "contentious" races in which the total points for many horses will be quite close. In these cases, the straight-forward mathematical approach used in our earlier program might come up with a bunch of horses all in the 5/1 to 8/1 range. There was no way to apply your own "insight" to the program's results. That's where this new "PLUS" version does its magic. You can fix the odds on one or more horses and just let the program figure out the odds for the others. If you think the best horse in the race should be 2/1 and the worst 20/1, you simply enter those values and check the "Fix Value" box next to the horse's odds. The program will leave these unchanged and simply re-calculate the odds for the remaining horses! You are in complete control!

And, you can now SAVE the data on your screen at any time. This let's you start over if you don't like the direction things are going in, without having to type in all the data again. Or, after the race is over, you can go back and look at your data to see if a tweak here or there might have given you better results.
